SIXERS WIN! And Kobe Says “Thanks Philly!”

In was the first day of the first day of the official “Kobe Bryant farewell tour”, the Philadelphia 76ers secured their first win of the season over the Los Angeles Lakers, 103-91. Bryant joked about there being no chair for him at the podium (because he needed to save his legs for the game) at a fun pre-game press conference. He started the game by setting the crowd into euphoria by hitting three out of four three-point shots in the first few minutes of the game.

This was the 76ers first win of the 2015-16 season out of 19 tries, and their first win since March 2015 after 29 tries. Coach Brett Brown chose to bring Nerlens Noel off the bench in his first game back after missing two games with a sore knee, and he responded with 14 points and nine boards. Robert Covington dropped 23 points, including 5-for-11 from three. Jerami Grant was everywhere and totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, while Jahlil Okafor scored 12.

Bryant didn’t fare so well. He showed why he is calling it quits after this season, missing 14 of his final 16 shots en route to 20 points on 7-for-26 shooting. He did however have what looks like a great time doing it. The usual Kobe Scowl was replaced with a grin, and he joked with fans between plays.
