The Orlando Magic started the season with a few goals, including making the playoffs this season. To do so, they must beat the teams that they should and in many cases already have beaten. This includes the Philadelphia 76ers. That Also includes the Charlotte Hornets.
The Magic though they had fixed the problems. The lack of energy, the inconsistency. The Magic played Friday night with renewed energy and defensive fierceness…until late in the fourth quarter.
At one point in the game, the Magic were up by 19 over the Hornets. and with 7 minutes left, they had a solid 15 point lead. Then the old demons resurfaced, and they were exploited by the Hornet’s Kemba Walker was more than happy to exploit them. The
Hornets went on at 22-3 run late in the fourth quarter. They battled back to take the lead. Orlando’s recent hero, Victor Oladipo hit a miracle 3-point shot to keep his team alive and tie the game at the end of regulation.
Oladipo stripped Kemba Walker with 26.3 seconds to play and dunked to put Orlando up 116-115 in OT. However, Spencer Hawes took a feed from Troy Daniels and drilled a 3-point shot from the corner with 17.8 seconds left to put Charlotte back into the lead.
The Magic committed 19 turnovers in the game. Nuff Said. Those playoff goals seem in jeopardy as they yet to have their 2nd win in the moth of January. Back to the lab.
The Magic next face the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday in Memphis.
