The Tigers totally dominated on both sides of the ball, with 249 yards passing in the first half alone. LSU spread their QB duties in between Jayden Daniels (12-23 for 123 miles and 1 TD) and Garrett Nussmeyer (8-10 for 81 yards and 1 TD)

Purdue was totally outmatched in this game. In the first half, the Boilermakers could only manage 73 yards rushing and ,even worse, 13- yards rushing. QB Austin Burton went only 11-20 for 73 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in the first half.

Getting into the second half, The Tigers ran the score up to 49-0 before Perdue Challenged.

Finally at the start of the fourth quarter, Perdue QB Michael Alaimo hit TJ Sheffield with a 26-yard pass, followed by a 16 yd touchdown throw.

Avoiding the Shutout, The Boilermakers brought the score to 49-7 in the earth fourth.

LSU continued to pour it in later in the fourth. as Purdue gave up punting on 4th down, the Tigers took full advantage of the good field position after turnovers on downs and scored.

One score was a rushing touchdown by Derrick Davis jr off of a 12 yd rush to score, taking the score to 56-7 with almost nine minutes left in the game.

As a closer, Quad Wilson intercepted a pass and ran it back 99 yards for the final score. With the missed Point after kick, the score ended at 62-7.

LSU quarterbacks were powerful in the game, with Garrett Nussmeyer going 11/15 for 173 yards and two touchdowns, Jayden Daniels going 12/17 139 yards and a touchdown.

Purdue’s Austin Burton went 12/24 for 74 yds and an interception.

Daniels had the best rushing day for the Tigers with 5 rushing attempts for 67 yds.

AS for Perdue, it was just a matter of better talent. the Boilermakers never could get anything going.

The one drive that was effective resulted in their only touchdown for the day at the end of the first half. Otherwise it was a dreary football game.

The #17 ranked Tigers had their way with them, and with the ceremonial dumping of the bucket of cheez-its on coach Kelly, they win the Citrus Bowl Championship

Kelly won a previous Citrus Bowl with a win as head Coach of Notre Dame in 2018 over LSU.
