Carries Fisher Dies, 60

Star Wars actress Carries Fisher died today in a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering a massive heart attack on board a flight from London to LA. She was 60.

Her family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd.

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Fisher, daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher, is best known for playing Princess Lea Organa in the original Star Wars trilogy. She was also an author of several best selling books.
