Michelle Obama’s ‘Becoming’ is the bestselling book of 2018

Just two weeks after its release, Michelle Obama’s memoir “Becoming” is the bestselling book of the year.

The former first lady’s book has sold more than 2 million copies in North America since its Nov. 13 release, according to NDP BookScan data. It sold 725,000 copies on its first day alone.

The book is also taking off overseas, topping bestseller lists throughout Europe.

“Becoming” surpassed sales of this year’s other big books, including Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury” and “Fear,” by Bob Woodward.

Obama’s memoir paints a deeply personal picture of her life, from her upbringing in the South Side of Chicago and her time at Harvard Law School to a miscarriage and fertility treatment to conceive her two daughters.

Before it was released, “Becoming” got a boost from media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who selected it as her book club pick.

“From the very first pages of ‘Becoming’ I knew I wanted EVERYONE to read it,” Oprah tweeted.
