Magic dominate Atalanta Hawks 149-113 to continue playoff push

In a record breaking night, the Orlando Magic dominated the Atlanta Hawks 149-114 in front of a sellout crowd at Amway Center last night. it was Orlando’s final regular season home game.

The Magic needs to keep winning to keep pace in the NBA Eastern conference playoff race. They came onto the floor and scored a franchise-record 81 points in the first half.

Orlando had 6 players in double figures with Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic scoring double doubles. The Magic shot a scorching 61% from the field and 49% beyond the arc.

“We came out with so much energy, probably the most we’ve had all year,’’ said Magic guard Evan Fournier, who poured in 25 points by making 11 of 14 shots. “We kept making plays offensively and defensively and got the crowd going with a few dunks and a few threes. Really, we won that game in the first quarter.’’

The Magic benefited from losses by the Miami heat, and Detroit Pistons and now sit tied for the 7th playoff spot with two regular season games remaining.

Orlando travels to face the Boston Celtics on Sunday, followed by their season finale against the Charlotts Hornets on Wednesday.
