Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles': Watch the teaser

OK, breathe deeply everyone: We’re now going to see just what Michael Bay has produced with his live-action spin on the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

In 2012, Bay announced that he was rebooting the classic characters and changing their backstory as baby turtles who mutate into warriors, much to the outrage of fans.

Two years later, we have a first look at the upcoming action film with a 90-second teaser trailer. While the first promo image is of Megan Fox as the reporter April O’Neil, the clip gives us a great look at Donatello (Jeremy Howard), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher), Raphael (Alan Ritchson) and Leonardo (Pete Ploszek).

The story’s set in a modern-day New York that’s in desperate need of a hero (or four). With “crime, violence and fear” running rampant, O’Neil’s father set out to craft creatures that could help restore order to NYC. What’d he come up with? A ninja-like quad of turtles, of course.

Produced by Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the movie looks larger than life and isn’t short on explosions. What’s comforting, though, is that the Turtles’ lovable personalities seem to have remained more or less intact.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” also stars Whoopi Goldberg, Will Arnett, William Fichtner and Danny Woodburn as Splinter. The movie arrives on August 8.

Before that, Channing Tatum’s sci-fi movie with Mila Kunis, “Jupiter Ascending,” is going to drop on July 18. The second trailer, which arrived Wednesday, does a much better job of explaining the premise than the first:
