How To Answer The Phone In 10 Different Languages

There are always perks to sounding like a local… and using your phone abroad is no exception to that rule.

Thanks to doodle artist James Chapman, we’ve got the 4-1-1 (get it?) on how to answer the phone in every tongue, from Spanish to Indonesian. And even when you just want to spice up stateside phone calls with a surprise “alo” or “diga,” consult this handy lesson, courtesy of language learning site Babbel. (Side note: These translations are not hard and fast. They may vary, like in the Spanish language, for example.)
