USWNT defeats China 3-0 in Int’l friendly match up

FT LAUDERDALE –  The United States Women’s soccer team (USWNT) faced off against China PR on Saturday at DRV PNK Stadium and the USA emerged as 3-0 winners of the international matchup.

Team USA is working to wrap up its 2023 season without a loss in regulation time 12W-4D-0L record and is coming off an entertaining 3-0 win over Colombia in its most recent match on October 29.

Trinity Rodman led the US Women with nine goal and two assists.

Sophia Smith started off the scoring for the US Women, with a nice tap in the eighth minute.

Later in the 52nd minute, Lindsay Horan put one in for the US.  it was her 30th goal.

The USWNT had several chances for several other goals, but missed angles or the touches just weren’t right.

Rodman put her goal in at the 77th minute, and danced after her score, which puts the US up 3-0

“She’s just being really intentional, we see that in training, we see that in games. And she’s starting to play more and more with the players around her as well,” Interim U.S. coach Twila Kilgore said about Rodman. “She’s obviously a very gifted individual player and she’s looking to play more with her teammates.”

In these matches, the US team is focusing on their youth, giving the USMNT veterans Alex Morgan, Becky Sauerbrunn, Alyssa Naeher and Crystal Dunn some time off.

Kilgore is one of the last coaches from former USWNT coach Vlatko Andonovski, chose the roster in consultation with U.S. Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker and Emma Hayes, the new coach who will join the team in May after finishing out the season with Chelsea.

Hayes visited the team during training ahead of these matches against China.

This is one of two friendless against China, the second being on December 5th in Frisco, TX.
