Orlando City delivered a clutch win vs NYC FC on Friday. Even without two of their standout players, Kaka and Breck Shea (yellow card accumulation), the Lions performed aggressively and used their speed advantage to win 1-2, keeping their hopes alive for a playoff berth.
The hero of the night was Cyle Larin, who scored two goals with a third called back. Larin is now 6 goals above the previous rookie record and is creeping up on being among the league’s leading scorers.
The Lions now await the score of the Montreal Impact vs New England Revolution match. If Montreal wins, Orlando City’s chances are slim to none, but if they lose, Orlando would need to beat Philadelphia on the 25th to secure a playoff spot.
Notes: Cyle Larin and Calros Rivas received yellow cards on Friday’s match abut are not in danger of suspension. Goal keeper Tally Hall was injured in Friday’s match. Josh hall made is debut in his place and held NYC to one goal.
