Kendrick, Taylor, The Weeknd Top Grammy Noms

Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd all scored multiple Grammy nominations for the 58th Grammy annual awards to be awarded in 2016. The awards, presented by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Lamar received 11 nominations, including nominations for Album of the Year for “To Pimp and a Butterfly” against Swift’s monster album “1989”.

Swift is receiving the usual heavy attention for her nominations, 7 in all, including Album of the Year (again, for “1989”), Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Performance for “Blank Space”, among other awards.

The Weekend also received 7 nominations for his album “Beauty Behind the Madness” and single “I Can’t Feel My Face”. Singer Ed Sheehan also received multiple nominations, including one for  Record of the Year, for his single “Thinking Out Loud”.

The Best New Artists nominees are Courtney Barnett, James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, and Meghan Trainor. For a full listing of grammy nominations, go to Grammy.com

And for those expecting an epic battle between Swift and Adele for Grammy glory, it wasn’t meant to be: The “Hello” singer’s new album “25” was released two months after the deadline for consideration for the 2016 Grammys.

The 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held Feb. 15, 2016, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
