ORLANDO, FL – The Orlando Pride faced the Chicago Stars last night and fell 3-2 in front of a crowd of 3,906 at Expedia Stadium.

Samantha Kerr had Orlando number all night, scoring all three of Chicago’s goals for.

“We can’t give away the goals that we’ve given away and win a game. We have again a third game consecutively scored two goals and still lost the game, it’s not acceptable” Said Pride head coach Marc Skinner. “Results wise its not acceptable.”

International stars Marta and Camilla joined the club after their stint in the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the Brazilian team.

“I’m happy to be home again.” said Marta “Of course I wish the result was different but we still need to work hard to improve more to find a way to start to win the games and go up in the table.”

Chicago forward Sam Kerr was a terror for the Orlando back line. She scored quickly, taking an errant pass from Orlando’s Morgan Died and putting it into the net in the 7th minute.

Orlando’s Chi Obogugu literally jumped on an error by Chicago goalkeeper Emily Boyd, who had trouble handling a hard pass. Chi jumped on it, fought to get the ball from Boyd and tapped it into the empty net, tying the match at the 22 min mark.

Kerr scored again with a header in first half stoppage time off of a ball from Yuki Nagasato, sending the team into the locker room with a 2-1 lead.

atet e55th minute mark, Kerr ripped a shot off just outside the penalty area that beat Haley Kopmeyer into the left side of the net for a 3-1 lead.

Camilla was tackled in the box and Marta scored with resulting penalty kick to give Orlando their second score.

The Pride were forced to make an early substitution after Bridget Callahan exited the game due to injury in the 16th minute. This was when Camilla entered the match.

The team reported that Callahan was taken to the hospital for stitches and they would report further on her condition at a later time.

The pride next face the Washington Spirit at Explores Stadium on Saturday, July 6. Kickoff for that match is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
