Whitney Houston’s hologram is going on tour

A simulated version of the late Whitney Houston is set to hit the road early 2020 on an international trek entitled, “An Evening With Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour,” Billboard reports.

Dates for the elaborate stage show have been announced, with the concert series kicking off in Mexico between Jan. 23 and Feb. 9, followed by several European stops, including England, Denmark, Austria, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and more. The tour is scheduled to hit North America fall 2020.

BASE Hologram, the company responsible for replicating the six-time Grammy winner’s likeness, has released their first rendering of Houston’s hologram.

“Whitney Houston was a talent beyond words, and her influence and artistry transcended all boundaries,” said Brian Becker, BASE Hologram and BASE Entertainment CEO and chairman, in a statement. “What we are creating here is a new type of theatrical concert experience designed to capture that magic. When she performed there was an unmatched level of charisma and emotion to it – that’s what we are going to bring to audiences and it’s an honor to be able to help add to her legacy with this project.”

The performer’s executor, sister-in-law and former manager Pat Houston added, “A hologram show is all about the imagination and creating a ‘wow factor’ that extends to an incredible experience to enjoy for years to come. Whitney is not with us but her music will live with us forever. We know we made the right decision partnering with BASE because they understand how important it is to produce a phenomenal hologram.”

The New York Times reported in May that the stage show will include all of the singer’s biggest hits digitally remastered and backed by her original band and backup singers, including her brother Gary, Pat Houston’s husband. Choreographer Fatima Robinson (who has worked with Michael Jackson, Rihanna and The Weeknd) will be at the helm of the tour’s production.
