Orlando City Battles Red Bulls for 3-1 win and 9th Straight Unbeaten Game

ORLANDO, FL – Orlando City SC (8-2-5) defeated the New York Red Bulls (6-7-2) 3-1 in a match under the purple rain in Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fl.

Orlando won with goals by Darryl Dike (24th min), Junior Urso (50th min), and Antonio Carlos (90+5 min)

Orlando did let a goal slipped through by New York’s Forian Valot in the 54th minute.

This is Orlando’s 9th consecutive match without a loss.

“It’s another important victory against a team who has had recently very good results and has shown a lot of versatility and dynamics in the way they attack.” Said Orlando Head Coach Oscar Pareya “Today we did a great job on controlling that part for most of the game, even though there were moments in the second half especially where they pushed us back and we had to put our blocks lower than we wanted. We beat a good team, it was a very hard game, but I liked the performance and we should be proud.”

Orlando is working without some injured players, including Mauricio Pareyra, who left the game at halftime with a leg injury. Orlando was also without Tesho Akindele, Jao Mountinho, and Uri Rosell.

When New York started the match in a 4-4-2 formation, Oscar was pleased with his team’s resonse.

“Our team reacted well by sticking to the plan, and by them doing that, their patience turned the game around for us and things opened up.”

Orlando next faces Atlanta United on Wednesday at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta at 7pm.
