Utah Jazz beat down Orlando Magic 124-109

OLRNAOD – The Utah Jazz completed their 2021 tour of Florida with a 124-109 thrashing of the Orlando Magic.

The Jazz, the best team in the NBA right now, wore out the Magic by dominating the third and fourth quarters after losing to the Miami Heat on Thursday night in Miami.

Utah’s Donovan Mitchell dominated the Magic on offense with 31 points on 10 of 19 shooting including hitting 5 shots from deep. The Jazz did dominate Orlando in rebounding, and that was the major difference, but when you have all-star Rudy Gobert, that can happen.

Mitchell got help from Jordan Clarkson off of the bench with 18 points, followed by Joe Engels with 17 points. The Jazz had seven players in double figures and clearly had much more talent than Orlando could even compete with.

Nikola Vucevic came through for the Magic with 34 points, but he didn’t have a ton of help. Evan Fournier scored 16, and Dwayne Bacon had 13.

Utah out rebounded Orlando 52-37, with Gobert hauling down 16 for the Jazz as they pulled further and further away as the game moved on.

Utah outscored Orlando in every quarter, including a 33-27 difference in the third quarter. Utah did have a huge upside on free throw disparity, where the Jazz had 24 free thro opportunities, while Orlando had only 8 calls.

Orlando was killed by second chance points, 24 in the game. that was Magic Head Coach Steve Clifford’s point in the press conference.

“When you give up 24 second chance points, you really make it tough on yourselves. That was the difference in the game” Said Clifford.
